First Simplex-Turbulo and Parker Kittiwake condition monitoring seminar ends with great success

Simplex-Turbulo and Parker Kittiwake joined forces on Friday 9th March to provide some of their London-based marine industry customers with an opportunity to learn more about the range of condition monitoring equipment available from Simplex-Turbulo, Parker Kittiwake’s Marine Master Distributor for UK and Ireland.

The attendees came from across the marine industry, including owners, ship managers, class societies, ferry operators and consultants.  The objective of the free seminar was to provide a brief presentation about the importance of condition based monitoring as well as to show the simplicity of use of Parker Kittiwake’s products by physically demonstrating the equipment and allowing attendees to touch and use the equipment.

Experts from Parker Kittiwake were on hand to present the latest technology
Customers being instructed in the use of the various equipment

The setup allowed for a number of demonstration stations featuring: Bunker Fuel sampling; Acoustics Emissions technology; Fuel and Lube Oil monitoring.  Customers were instructed in the use of the various equipment which included testing for water, acid and wear metals in oil (including scrape-down oil) as well as oil base number; catfines and sulphur in fuel, as well as density and viscosity; acoustic signatures in bearings as well as acoustic leak checking for compressed air systems.

All in all, a very informative seminar which was well received by the customers and rounded off with a parting gift of Simplex-Turbulo’s very own bottle of N-Gin, a bespoke Hampshire gin built from an infusion of lemongrass and Szechuan pepper. In addition, all attendees were also provided with a Viscostik to compare the viscosity of old oil in comparison to a fresh oil, thus quickly determining problems such as fuel dilution or soot loading.
