On the 9th of February 2017, everyone at Simplex bid a very fond farewell to Jonathan Parr as he retired after 22 years (well, actually 21 years, 11 months and 21 days, not that we were counting) of service to the company.
Jonathan started at Simplex in 1995 – a time when Google didn’t exist, Bill Clinton was president of the United States, and Blackburn Rovers had just won the Premier League. Since then he has been the driving force behind the growth of the diesel business at Simplex. Using his assertiveness, strategic thinking and larger-than-life personality, he has won not only countless orders, but also countless friends along the way.
Known for his eccentric dress sense and less-than-tidy desk, Jonathan has a genuinely warm heart, and a work ethic sturdier than any piston, valve or bearing. Everyone at Simplex is in gratitude for his dedication, support, and friendship over the years.
As a testament to his popularity, business partners from all over Europe came to celebrate with us on the day of his retirement as we reminisced into the early hours. But it wasn’t all about reflection. Set to embark on the trip of a lifetime with his wife Wendy and his trusty camera, Jonathan has plenty to look forward to in his golden years.
We wish him a truly wonderful retirement – Jonathan, you will be missed!
